Mark Matlock (matlocktheartist) was born into the arts. His maternal family is a mix of illustrators, painters and sculptors in Italy and Chicago, his father was a master photographer with portrait studios in New York and Chicago.

Though oil paint and ink is currently his primary mediums, at times Matlocktheartist is a digital-illustrator, photographer, sculptor and publisher. His life as an artist is devoted to the exploration of artistic mediums and in the study of social and political issues through the human figure.

In April of 2010 Matlock opened Fragment Gallery focusing on the modern “LowBrow” art movement exhibiting local, national and international artists.
